One ring road,
seven ways to ride it.
Samui is circled by a single road of about 50 km. The house sits on its quiet south-east side in Hua Thanon, a few minutes from Lamai. Here is every way to move around — and what each one is really like.
Slow days around Hua Thanon
Five places close to the house · times from Google Maps, approximate
01Guan Yu Shrine
A Chinese shrine to the god of loyalty, right in the village. An easy first walk.
02Hin Ta – Hin Yai
The famous Grandfather and Grandmother rocks on the coast at the edge of Lamai.
03Na Muang Waterfall
A jungle waterfall in the hills, with a cool pool at the bottom. Best after the rains.
04Wat Laem Sor
A golden chedi standing right by the sea on the quiet south coast.
05Koh Madsum
A small island off the south coast. Longtail boats leave from Thong Krut pier.

Keep it simple: let us book your airport pickup, then use Grab or Bolt for evenings out. No driving, no haggling.
Pickup, arranged by us
Our Guest Relations Team books your ride to or from the airport or pier through our Grab and Bolt partnership — a driver waiting, a fixed fare, nothing to figure out on arrival.
Good to know · Send your flight or boat time at least 24 hours ahead.
Grab & Bolt
Ride-hailing apps work well around Lamai, Chaweng and Bophut. You see the fare before you ride and pay in the app.
Good to know · At the airport, drivers meet you at a set pickup spot outside arrivals. Fewer cars late at night.
Songthaew
The shared pickup trucks that loop the ring road. Wave one down, sit in the back, press the buzzer when you want to stop.
Good to know · Agree the fare before you get on. Frequent by day, thinner after 20:00 and mostly gone by 22:00.
Taxi
Island taxis charge fixed zone prices rather than using the meter. Good for one-off trips with luggage.
Good to know · Always confirm the price before getting in. Night rates are higher.
Scooter
The island way: cheap, quick, and the best way to find quiet corners. Our rental partner can bring one to the house.
Good to know · Thai law needs a motorcycle licence (or IDP with motorcycle class) and a helmet for rider and passenger. Police checkpoints are common, and travel insurance may not pay without a valid licence.
Car
Comfortable and safer than two wheels, with room for children and bags. Best for exploring the hilly west coast.
Good to know · Choose an automatic for the hills. Driving is on the left. An International Driving Permit is needed.
Ferry & speedboat
For Koh Phangan, Koh Tao, Ang Thong Marine Park and the mainland at Surat Thani.
Good to know · Koh Phangan about 30–45 min, Koh Tao about 2 hours. Book early in December–February and July–August.
