While you’re
on the island.
Markets, festivals and quiet things worth knowing — around Hua Thanon, across Samui, and now and then, at the house.
Loy Krathong
Thailand’s festival of light. After dark, people float small krathongs of banana leaf, flowers and candles on the sea and the lakes. Lamai and Chaweng Lake are lively; the beach by the house is quieter.
Small evenings, coming soon
We are planning a few quiet things at the house — on the terrace, at !yalanka, by the sea. Follow us on LINE to hear first.
The village fish market
Hua Thanon is a fishing village, and much of the island’s seafood comes through here. Go early to see the morning catch and the village waking up.
New Year’s Eve
Fireworks and music along the beaches at midnight. Book your ride there and back early — it is the busiest night of the year.
Dates change — we check with organisers, but please confirm before you go. Need a ride there? We’ll arrange it.
